Chelsea Determined to Improve Their Form
Enzo Maresca’s men lost three of their last five Premier League games but are still flying high – they’re currently fourth in the standings.
The trouble is that there are several teams breathing by their neck. In fact, three of those could leapfrog Chelsea if the Blues lost against Tottenham. This is why doing well on Thursday is a must for the boys from Stamford Bridge.
The bad news is that coach Maresca won’t be able to count on several of his key men, particularly those from the attacking department – Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke, Marc Guiu, and Mykhailo Mudryk.
On the bright side for Chelsea fans is that this team has a very long bench, with many backups determined to show they’re worthy of Maresca’s trust.
Tottenham’s Lost Season
The Spurs currently have 34 points, which is 15 points fewer than Chelsea. With nine more rounds left in the Premier League, they just can’t expect to move much higher in the standings than the 14th place.
Our prediction is that they’ll have their worst finish in years. In fact, we’re certain they’ll finish below the 10th spot for the first time since 2008.
On the bright side for their fans, the Spurs won’t get relegated. They have two times as many points as the closest two teams from the relegation zone, meaning that they’re almost 100% safe.
But all this means that they don’t have much motivation for the remainder of the season. This is why we could see their coach Ange Postecoglou decide to give more minutes on the field to youngsters in order to get them ready for the next season.
That said, we could see teenagers like Mikey Moore and Mathys Tel play an important role in Thursday’s game.
Chelsea vs. Tottenham Prediction
If you compare Chelsea and Tottenham player-for-player, you’ll see that the Blues are superior. Not only do they have a better roster, but they also have way more motivation than the Spurs. After all, they’re fighting for a spot in the Champions League.
Knowing this, you can expect Chelsea to take Thursday’s game very seriously. As a result, they should be able to get all three points.
